Art_The Zoo Exhibit Design Project Begins

What do you get when you mix science, technology, art, and one of the city's greatest resources? A great opportunity for a design project. The girls will be designing an exhibit for an animal in technology and art. The project started with a visit from the ZooMobile. Two educators from The Maryland Zoo (Mr. Tim and Mr. Jeff) brought four animals (bearded dragon, kookaburra, black footed African penguin and chinchilla) to visit the girls.  They learned about the animals' specific habitats and special characteristics. They were introduced to the different relationships important to exhibit design - the relationship between the visitor, the animal, and the zookeeper.  Working in partners the girls will design  an exhibit for another animal. In the spring they will visit the zoo and compare their designs to the same animals' exhibits there. Ask your daughter what animal she is researching.
